The Garfagnana

 

Running through The Garfagnana is the Serchio River, which provides lush green valley’s throughout the region splitting the stunning majestic mountains that surround the area. With the Appennies to the North East and the Apuan Alps to the West, you can be assured this area is a great choice for outdoor lovers of all ages to enjoy hiking, cycling, mountain biking or simply walking through the forests which can be found all around.

 

Not to be forgotten are the many beautiful and historic villages and other attractions found in the area. From Castelnuovo, Garfagnana with its historic town square and Thursday market day to Barga and its cathedral, galleries and Scottish connections - to the outdoor adventures of the
Wind Cave (the Grotta del Vento), the legendary Devil’s Bridge in Borgo a Mozzano to the ghost town
of Vagli di Sotto, there are many places and picturesque villages to remind you of what a truly wonderful area of natural beauty you will discover over and over again.
